Mentoring scheme for children in poverty

A scheme where children and young people from low income families are mentored by local people with interesting lives and aspirational careers.

Why the contribution is important

Children in poverty often have fewer life experiences and less broad horizons than others. It's good for them to see that local people from varied backgrounds can be successful, break out of the constraints of their upbringing and have interesting careers. It would promote education and raise self esteem and ambition among young people.
