Better street lighting

Some areas are still quite dark at night and it can feel unsafe as a woman walking home, particularly in the winter. We could really do with some more lighting in those areas. 

Why the contribution is important

Make everyone feel safer and reduce crime.

    There are areas, particularly just outside the centre of town, that feel very unsafe for women and girls walking after dark. With the increasing amounts of VAWG the council really needs to prioritise doing something about this.

    It feels important to balance unnecessary light pollution with the safety of people - especially women - at night. I think there is far too much lighting in some areas (wasting energy) and far too little in others - a complete redesign is needed.

    My street is much too dark, I don't feel safe coming home at all.

    There are too many poorly lit alleyways and back streets near the centre of town - lighting definitely needs to be improved
