'The Apprentice'

Not sure if this is a good idea. But could we use some of the fund as funding in an apprentice type competition? Or it could be dragon den-esque?

I'm sure there's a whole of load of young people out there with brilliant ideas. What better way to encourage them than to fund their business ideas into reality? Hey we could even try to get a famous tv personality from dragon's den to come and open the competition or be a judge?

Why the contribution is important

It could help stimulate and encourage young people to think of new and brilliant business ideas. There is a prize and an incentive to succeed for them. If they become a reality and become successful it'll add another string to the bow that is Arlen Hill!

We need to cultivate a better entrepreneurial spirit amongst our young people. This will be a great way to achieve that!

A dragon's den experience will be better than an apprentice type of competition. That'll be too much I think. Having the children and young people prepare, work in teams and then pitch and idea is much more fruitful.

I agree with janedoe999 - an apprentice type competition will be too much. These are just children and young people with no prior work experience. I sway more to a dragon den type pitch.

Just to throw another spanner into the works. What happens after the money is given? Who is responsible for making sure it is used appropriately and effectively?

This is a great idea, not sure who'd facilitate it - do you have any ideas?
