Mentoring scheme

Would it be possible to get business leaders and young and upcoming professionals in the Arlen Hill community to volunteer some of their time in order to mentor aspiring young people? I sometimes wish I could have asked questions to wiser folk back in the day!

It would both provide opportunities for different generations to interact with each other and build community. Secondly it would give young people the opporunity to tap into a wealth of wisdom and experience in the community. It'll also give these 'adults' the opportunity to give back.

It'll require some start up/support funding to administer the scheme, perhaps an administrator and a website.

Why the contribution is important

Building community, bridging generations

Spreading wisdom and experience to the young people - it will help to build them up and equip them for the future

We currently have nothing like it yet.

This could work great - we always need more role models for our children. Anything to encourage people to step up and impart a positive influence on the next generation. I'd sign up to the scheme if it started!

Having mentors will be great. Do you think we're be able to find enough suitable candidates to be mentors in Arlen Hill? Just thinking about what kind of commitment it would be and it would be a volunteering opportunity.
