Invest in the library!

Provide funding for the Mill Lane library to purchase new books for the children and young adults sections.

Why the contribution is important

I volunteer at the library and I see how much it is loved by the families who use it regularly. But the effect of cuts over the past few years are really starting to show now – we haven't been able to add any new books for quite some time, and the existing stock is getting very dogeared. There also aren't as many events as there used to be. Reading is perhaps the most fundamental part of a young person's education and I can't think of many better uses for this fund than investing in our beloved library.

I totally agree! Even with the technology we have today libraries can play a fundamental part of growing up. Reading is essential! There is also not reason why we can't install education based technology in the new library to help our children learn new things.

I disagree. Libraries are antiquated. We need to be pursuing more technologically advanced and mobile forms of education and learning experiences. Are books really the best we can do in today's day and age?

Nothing beats a good book. Sometimes a screen just won't do. We can't expect our future children to be just reading off a screen right? So books and libraries should be looked after with greater care. Investment in the current library is no bad thing!

Plus we can always invest in new technology within the library itself!
